{"id":138979,"date":"2024-12-20T02:11:13","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T19:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=138979"},"modified":"2024-12-20T02:11:13","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T19:11:13","slug":"former-top-aide-to-new-york-city-mayor-eric-adams-accused-of-bribery-money-laundering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=138979","title":{"rendered":"Former top aide to New York City Mayor Eric Adams accused of bribery, money laundering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"\">Prosecutors on Thursday accused Ingrid Lewis-Martin, the former top aide to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/eric-adams-nyc-mayor-meets-trump-border-czar-tom-homan-rcna184064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York City Mayor Eric Adams<\/a>, of using her City Hall influence to help a hotel chain with construction plans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Lewis-Martin was expected to appear in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday to hear indictments made against her, her son Glenn Martin II and two real estate investors,<strong> <\/strong>Raizada Vaid and Mayank Dwivedi,<strong> <\/strong>according to a statement by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Lewis-Martin &#8220;engaged in a long-running bribery, money laundering and conspiracy scheme by using her position and authority&#8221; to &#8220;illegally influence Department of Buildings and other city decisions in exchange for more than $100,000 in cash and benefits for herself and her son, Glenn Martin II,&#8221; according to a Manhattan Supreme Court filing by Bragg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Prosecutors called Lewis-Martin &#8220;the second most senior person in City Hall&#8221; and said she &#8220;abused her position and sold her influence to enrich herself and her family.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;The indictment unsealed today can be summarized in three words \u2014 quid pro quo,&#8221; Bragg told reporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Today\u2019s indictment alleges and portrays a clear picture: &#8216;You do this for me and I will do that for you.&#8217; It was not what is in the best interest of the city of New York and those who live here.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The defendant had been the longtime chief adviser to Adams until her abrupt resignation on Sunday, marking another tumultuous moment for the mayor of America&#8217;s biggest city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Adams was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/pr\/new-york-city-mayor-eric-adams-charged-bribery-and-campaign-finance-offenses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicted by a federal grand jury <\/a>three months ago on bribery, campaign finance and conspiracy charges.
