The agency described Wednesday&#8217;s earthquake activity as still low, with around eight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/earthquakes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earthquakes<\/a>, according to the USGS. The lava flow from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/volcano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eruption<\/a> covered more than 880,000 square meters (217 acres). The eruption caused a &#8220;fissure&#8221; or crack near the crater that measured 1,600 feet.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/extreme-weather\/hawaii-kilauea-volcano-eruption-national-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>VIDEO: HAWAII&#8217;S KILAUEA VOLCANO ERUPTS, SENDING LAVA FLOWING THROUGH NATIONAL PARK<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Since then, rates of seismicity and ground deformation have decreased significantly.
