coldest air of the season, beginning over the weekend and continuing into the upcoming week.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Unlike classic episodes where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/blizzards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blizzards<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> often form the demarcation line between air masses, the upcoming storm systems aren\u2019t expected to be overly organized when they approach the eastern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a>, leading to light to occasionally moderate amounts of precipitation.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Between the two storm systems, a maximum of 1-3 inches of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/snow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snowfall<\/a> is expected for parts of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a>, while 1-3 inches of rainfall is expected in the warm zone over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/southeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southeast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Where the two forms of precipitation meet in the transition zone, travel is expected to be most problematic, especially in places that aren\u2019t used to the frozen precipitation, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/north-carolina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Carolina<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/virginia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Virginia<\/a> and the Delmarva could be the most challenging and lead to difficult travel.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Undoubtedly, the biggest story will be the cold air, not the precipitation, as the thermometer will approach zero from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/chicago\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/missouri\/kansas-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas City<\/a>, through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/pennsylvania\/philadelphia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/massachusetts\/boston\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boston<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Much of the Southeast won\u2019t be immune data-v-438398f6=\"\">The heaviest rainfall is expected between I-10 and I-20, with 1 to 3 inches possible before the weekend ends.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Due to the precipitation&#8217;s composition, snowfall is only likely in inland locations of the Northeast, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/new-england\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New England<\/a>, and data-v-438398f6=\"\">Enough cold air will be in place for the secondary storm system to bring more widespread snowfall when compared to the first, but accumulations are expected to remain light.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The exact location where the center of low-pressure forms will be critical in determining who will see snow and who will miss out on any frozen precipitation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Forecast models continue to suggest that the low-pressure system will not fully develop until it is well offshore, meaning major cities in the East, such as Philadelphia, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/new-york\/new-york-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York<\/a> and Boston, will once again miss out on significant snowfall.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">That said, wraparound moisture in the mid-Atlantic could cause some travel disruptions in areas that don\u2019t typically see frozen precipitation, weekend and next week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">A vast stretch of the U.S. is expected to experience temperatures 20 to 30 degrees below average, which will lead to zero or even sub-zero readings in cities like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/chicago\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a>, Boston and Philadelphia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p
