Sleet and freezing rain are expected, creating dangerous travel conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/winter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter<\/a> storm is expected to bring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/snow-sleet-freezing-rain-and-hail-whats-the-difference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sleet<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/snow-sleet-freezing-rain-and-hail-whats-the-difference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freezing rain<\/a> to portions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/midwest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Midwest<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a> on Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">While it&#8217;s too early to tell which areas will see the worst of the ice threat, the FOX Forecast Center is monitoring multiple possibilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Feb%205-6%20Storm%20What%20We%20Know.png\"\/><figcaption>What we know about the midweek winter storm.\u00a0<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Two scenarios are possible. In the first, a strong <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/why-is-atmospheric-pressure-so-important-to-the-forecast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">low-pressure system<\/a> forms over the Plains and moves east, where it collides with a stronger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-the-jet-stream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jet stream<\/a> that brings warm, moist air, leading to more freezing rain in the Midwest and Northeast along the Interstate 90 corridor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The second scenario features a weaker low-pressure system forming over the Plains and a strong coastal storm forming along the East Coast and taking over as the main system.
