While both storms will bring freezing rain to similar areas, this storm will be distinguished by significantly heavier snowfall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong> \u2013 Just as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/ice-storms-midwest-northeast-new-england-travel-impact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Midwest and Northeast grapple with an ongoing winter storm<\/a>, an even stronger one is on its way this weekend. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/from-ice-accretion-to-supercooled-water-7-things-to-know-about-freezing-rain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Freezing rain<\/a> is again a concern for many areas, but the major difference will be significantly heavier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/snow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snowfall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center said heavy snow will fall Saturday across the Upper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/midwest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Midwest<\/a> and Great Lakes. Potentially heavy rain will be most concerning in the central Appalachians, where soils are already wet and ample rainfall is expected in the short-term, the FOX Forecast Center said.
