By the end of Friday, rain totals in the Southeast could reach 5 to 8 inches, with parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee expected to see the highest amounts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/winter-storms-us-plains-midwest-northeast-snow-ice-travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Winter storms moving across the country<\/a> will produce heavy rain for the majority of the workweek across the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/southeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southeast<\/a>, bringing the threat of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/7-facts-you-should-know-about-flash-floods\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flash flooding<\/a> and isolated pockets of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a>, including potential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/tornadoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tornadoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">According to the FOX Forecast Center, back-to-back storms this week will bring repeated rounds of rain to the same parts of the country without much of a break. This covers an area starting in West <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas<\/a> and stretching north and eastward all the way to the Southeast coast, covering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/north-carolina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Carolina<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/georgia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Georgia<\/a> and portions of northern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The greatest threat of flash flooding will be from Tuesday night into Wednesday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/tennessee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tennessee<\/a> and northern portions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/louisiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Louisiana<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/mississippi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mississippi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/alabama\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alabama<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Some parts of western North Carolina, which is still recovering from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/helene\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hurricane Helene<\/a> in late September, could see upwards of 5 inches of rain through Friday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">This is all being driven by a dip in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-the-jet-stream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jet stream<\/a>, which will allow the warm side of those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/winter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter<\/a> storms to tap into moisture from the Gulf.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/winter-storms-us-plains-midwest-northeast-snow-ice-travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PARADE OF WINTER STORMS TO BLAST ACROSS US WITH SNOW EXPECTED FOR 200 MILLION IN 40 STATES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/South%20Rain%20QPF.png\"\/><figcaption>Expected rain this week.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The first round of heavy rain will break out across parts of Texas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/oklahoma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oklahoma<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/arkansas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arkansas<\/a> early Tuesday morning. This rain will expand to most of Tennessee by the Tuesday morning commute.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">This rain will stall and remain over the same area into Wednesday when rain from the second storm takes over the same areas, prompting a Level 2 out of 4 flash <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/flood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flood<\/a> risk stretching from East Texas to covering northern Louisiana, southeastern Arkansas, northern Mississippi, northern Alabama and a large portion of Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Areas north of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/georgia\/atlanta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlanta<\/a> are also under this flash flood threat.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/7-facts-you-should-know-about-flash-floods\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>7 FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FLASH FLOODS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/TUE%20Flash%20Flood%20Outlook.png\"\/><figcaption>Flash flood threat on Tuesday.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Rain will begin to lighten across parts of the region on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">All told, rain totals in the Southeast could reach 5-8 inches, with parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee expected to see the highest amounts.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The rain will bring much-needed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/drought\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drought<\/a> relief to Middle Tennessee, which is in extreme drought, but dry soil can also enhance flash flooding and create <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/7-things-to-know-about-mudslides\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mudslides<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Parts of western North Carolina, which are still recovering from Hurricane Helene, could see at least 2 inches of rain from these events, with up to 5 inches in some locations.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/flash-flood-emergency-west-virginia-kentucky-february-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>LIFE-THREATENING FLOODING IN WEST VIRGINIA LEADS TO NUMEROUS HIGH-WATER RESCUES, ROCKSLIDES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/South%20Multi%20Day%20Planner.png\"\/><figcaption>Forecast for the next three days.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Severe weather threat for Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama<\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Additionally, there is a Level 1 out of 5 severe weather threat from Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night for most of Louisiana, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/louisiana\/new-orleans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Orleans<\/a>.
