There are still a few days before forecast models start to come into agreement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><strong>WASHINGTON<\/strong> \u2013 Parts of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/mid-atlantic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mid-Atlantic<\/a> could be in for their biggest snowstorm of the season later this week if all the pieces come together, according to the FOX Forecast Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Confidence is increasing, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/new-fox-model-a-game-changer-in-short-term-weather-prediction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">computer forecast models<\/a> showing an impactful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/winter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter<\/a> storm developing in the Plains and tracking across the central and eastern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> However, uncertainty remains about the system&#8217;s exact track and what the impacts will be for those along the heavily populated Interstate 95 corridor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The energy for this storm moves out of the Rockies and into the Plains on Monday before heading east. Where this system reaches the East Coast and how close it stays to the coastline could result in some of the most impactful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/snow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snow<\/a> of the year for the Northeast and mid-Atlantic later in the week.<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Midweek%20Snow%20QPF.png\"\/><fig-caption>Potential snowfall this week.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/fig-caption><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\"><strong>What we know about potential nor&#8217;easter so far<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center expects snow to first develop in the central Plains and mid-Mississippi Valley later Monday and into Tuesday, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/winter-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter weather<\/a> alerts have already been posted.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Significant snow is possible for parts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/kansas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/colorado\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/missouri\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Missouri<\/a>, with 6-10 inches of snow falling in parts of southeastern Kansas and south-central Missouri.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Plains%20Winter%20Alerts.png\"\/><fig-caption>Winter weather alerts for the central Plains and mid-Mississippi Valley.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/fig-caption><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">As this storm heads east, winter weather impacts could be felt in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast from late Wednesday through early Friday.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\"><strong>Heavy snow or a big flop for the Northeast?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center said this storm has the potential to become a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-noreaster-definition-northeast-snowstorm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nor&#8217;easter<\/a>, but it depends on the exact track and the amount of moisture surging into the system as it approaches the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;The preferred track, if you want to have the big Northeast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/blizzards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blizzard<\/a>, is to hug the coast to some degree,&#8221; Ryan\/The Boston Globe via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"sub-text\"><strong> (Getty Images)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The ingredients are there for a powerful storm, with arctic air dropping temperatures below freezing along the East Coast by midweek.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">If the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-the-jet-stream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jet stream<\/a> interacts with the upper-level storm energy from the Pacific Ocean, this system could be loaded with moisture, leading to a powerful storm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;The question is, does it do this out to sea thing or does it come up here and hug the coast?
