longer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Thursday&#8217;s release of NOAA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/climate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Climate<\/u><\/a> Prediction Center&#8217;s (CPC) temperature and precipitation outlooks for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/meteorological-spring-climatological-spring-march-1-may-31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>meteorological spring<\/u><\/a>, which spans March, April and May, indicates that a persistent, albeit weak, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/la-nina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Ni\u00f1a<\/a> will continue to bring impacts to the nation&#8217;s weather.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">While below-average sea-surface temperatures in the central and east-central Pacific are expected to last through April, the CPC forecasts a strong likelihood (66%) of a shift to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/la-nada-neutral-enso-pacific-explainer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Ni\u00f1o Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-neutral conditions<\/a> between March and May.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;This La Ni\u00f1a is predicted to be weak and relatively short-lived,&#8221; the CPC said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/products\/predictions\/long_range\/fxus05.html?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">its latest discussion outlook<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/spring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spring<\/a> outlook shows a temperature divide, with cooler conditions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northwest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northwest<\/a> and northern Plains countered by warmer temperatures in the South and East, while precipitation is expected to be above average in the Northwest, Great Lakes and parts of the East.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Here is a further breakdown.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\"><strong>Spring heat in South, chilly conditions in North<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Below-average temperatures are expected from the northwestern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> to the northern Plains, as well as in southeastern and south-central <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/alaska\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alaska<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Above-average temperatures are forecast for the southern tier of the U.S., much of the eastern U.S. and northern and western Alaska.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The highest probabilities of above-average temperatures are in parts of the <a
