The crew\u2019s next opportunity to return home will be in February aboard SpaceX capsule.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Two NASA astronauts will get the green light to leave the International Space Station this week, nine months after they arrived on Boeing\u2019s Starliner spacecraft during a test flight. However, they\u2019ll be flying back to Earth on a SpaceX vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/nasa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASA<\/a>\u00a0astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/earth-space\/boeing-starliner-dock-space-station-nasa-astronauts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrived at the ISS in June<\/a>\u00a02024 on Boeing&#8217;s Starliner CST-100 spacecraft during the first test flight with the crew. However, after a series of technical problems with the spacecraft,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/earth-space\/boeing-starliner-to-depart-from-space-station-friday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASA <\/a>sent<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/earth-space\/boeing-starliner-to-depart-from-space-station-friday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the Starliner back to Earth<\/a>\u00a0in September 2024 without its astronauts.\u00a0The Starliner crew flight test was slated to last just over a week, but the pair has been in orbit for nearly 10 months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The astronaut test pilots waited for their new ride back to Earth via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/space-x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SpaceX<\/a>&#8216;s Crew Dragon, which arrived with two astronauts from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/earth-space\/spacex-first-nasa-crew-9-astronaut-florida-military-launchpad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Crew-9 mission in September 2024<\/a>. Most missions to the ISS have four crew members, but NASA opted to leave two seats open for Wilmore and Williams on Crew-9.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/earth-space\/boeing-starliner-to-depart-from-space-station-friday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>BOEING STARLINER RETURNS HOME TO EARTH WITHOUT ASTRONAUTS, MARKING END OF TUMULTUOUS MISSION<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Then, they needed to wait for a replacement crew so the Crew-9 could depart, but the Crew-10 launch was delayed as SpaceX attempted to ready a brand-new Crew Dragon capsule.
