FOX Weather Meteorologists Britta Merwin and Craig Herrera break down the latest forecast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><strong>CHICAGO<\/strong> \u2013 The FOX Forecast Center is tracking the next <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/spring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spring<\/a> storm system sweeping across the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> that could bring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> to portions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/midwest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Midwest<\/a> and South this week, including cities like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/chicago\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/indiana\/indianapolis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indianapolis<\/a>, while a potential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/blizzards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blizzard<\/a> brews over the Plains on the system&#8217;s colder side.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Forecasters said that while severe storms are possible, they won\u2019t be anywhere near the extent of what took place last week when a deadly severe weather outbreak tore across America\u2019s Heartland and South that left at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/severe-weather-tornado-outbreak-us-midwest-southeast-northeast-march-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">42 people dead from Texas to North Carolina<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">And it&#8217;s not only severe weather that has forecasters concerned. The FOX Forecast Center is also tracking a possible blizzard that could blast portions of the Plains with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/snow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snow<\/a> and high <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a (SPC) placed this region in a level 1 out of 5 risk on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/weather-geek-speak-severe-weather-categories-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe thunderstorm risk scale<\/a>. However, the FOX Forecast Center said that the risk will be mitigated by limited low-level moisture and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/atmosphere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">atmospheric<\/a> energy.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The storms are expected to fire up in the early to mid-afternoon hours on Wednesday. Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-a-supercell-thunderstorm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supercell thunderstorms<\/a> could develop and form into a fast-moving cluster centered from portions of eastern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/illinois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Illinois<\/a> to western <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/indiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indiana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Strong to severe wind gusts with some large hail will be the primary concerns, but a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/tornadoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tornado<\/a> cannot be ruled out.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Right now, the SPC placed more than 12 million people in the region in a level 2 out of 5 risk of severe weather, including cities like Chicago, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/aurora\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aurora<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/joliet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joliet<\/a> in Illinois and Indianapolis in Indiana.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The severe weather threat also extends into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/tennessee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tennessee<\/a> Valley and Deep South, which were just impacted by the deadly tornado outbreak. However, due to unfavorable conditions, the threat isn&#8217;t as extreme as it was over the weekend.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Blizzard conditions possible in Plains, Midwest<\/h2>\n<div the central Plains on Tuesday, bringing a mix of heavy snow and strong winds, leading to potential blizzard conditions in a region that experienced the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/winter-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter weather<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center said the storm will rapidly strengthen as it tracks into the Midwest from the Rockies, bringing widespread snow and strong winds on the backside of the storm system.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/why-snowfall-rate-is-important-to-understanding-winter-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Snowfall rates<\/a> could reach 1-2 inches per hour in U.S. FOX Weather Meteorologists Britta Merwin and Craig Herrera break down the latest winter weather forecast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Warm ground temperatures may limit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/6-basic-steps-for-properly-measuring-snow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snow accumulations<\/a> at first, but roads are expected to quickly become snow-covered, which would then lead to dangerous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> conditions.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The highest accumulations are expected from Nebraska to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michigan<\/a>&#8216;s Upper Peninsula, which could see a foot or more of snow.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Winds are also a concern, and the FOX Forecast Center said gusts could reach as high as 50-60 mph.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Snow is expected to wind down by Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-image component-center\">\n<div
