data-v-438398f6=\"\"><strong>MIAMI \u2013<\/strong> The internet was a little rattled on Monday when the National <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hurricanes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hurricane<\/a> Center (NHC) flagged an area to watch in the Atlantic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/ocean\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ocean<\/a> more than two months before the start of hurricane season.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">FOX Weather Hurricane Specialist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/person\/n\/bryan-norcross\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bryan Norcross<\/a> said that, based on satellite imagery, the system&#8217;s appearance might have been the reason the NHC issued the advisory.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;I think mostly this is just driven by the fact that this looked so much like a potential tropical system yesterday,&#8221; Norcross said Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/atlantic-disturbance-hurricane-season-march-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER FLAGS FIRST AREA TO WATCH OF noopener\">The NHC said<\/a>\u00a0the non-tropical area of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/why-is-atmospheric-pressure-so-important-to-the-forecast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">low pressure<\/a> was located hundreds of miles northeast of the northern\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/where-are-the-lesser-antilles-and-leeward-islands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeward Islands<\/a>\u00a0and had been producing gale-force\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winds<\/a>\u00a0amid a large area of disorganized showers and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/thunderstorms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">On Tuesday, the conditions for any formation became too hostile, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/wind-shear\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind shear<\/a> ripping apart any chance of a tropical system.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">While a March named storm is rare, it has happened before.<\/p>\n<div south toward the Caribbean and actually became a pretty strong storm,&#8221; Norcross said. &#8220;That was in 1908.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Norcross said it could have been a different story if the system had moved toward the Caribbean into warmer waters this week.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;If it would make a 1908 move and move south toward the Caribbean, which was not forecast, but if it did that, it would run into relatively warmer temperatures,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But the water is getting colder; the upper-level winds are hostile.
