href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/blizzard-plains-midwest-winter-storm-snow-wind-travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plains and Upper Midwest with blizzard conditions<\/a> is also expected to produce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> on Wednesday, putting cities like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/chicago\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/indiana\/indianapolis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indianapolis<\/a> on alert for powerful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/thunderstorms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Forecasters said that while severe storms are expected, they won\u2019t be anywhere near as violent as what took place last week when a deadly severe weather outbreak tore across America\u2019s Heartland and South that left at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/severe-weather-tornado-outbreak-us-midwest-southeast-northeast-march-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>43 people dead from Texas to North Carolina<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/how-to-watch-fox-weather-on-tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>HOW TO WATCH FOX rel=\"noopener\">Iowa<\/a>, with some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/watch-vs-warning-here-are-the-differences-between-these-weather-terms-that-could-save-your-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Severe Thunderstorm Warnings<\/a> issued for cities like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/iowa\/cedar-rapids\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cedar Rapids<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/iowa\/ames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ames<\/a> in Iowa.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">As the system continues to move off to the east, the threat of severe weather will increase from portions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/midwest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Midwest<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/ohio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ohio<\/a> Valley southward to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/mississippi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mississippi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/alabama\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alabama<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center said that sustained thunderstorm activity is expected to begin by Wednesday afternoon, and a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-a-supercell-thunderstorm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supercell thunderstorms<\/a> could develop and form into a fast-moving line that will sweep across portions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/illinois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Illinois<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/indiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indiana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">NOAA&#8217;s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed more than 54 million people from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michigan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wisconsin<\/a> to the Deep South in the potential threat zone for strong to severe thunderstorms on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Damaging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind<\/a> gusts, large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hail<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/tornadoes\" target=\"_blank\" people in an area just south of Chicago, from central Illinois to far western Indiana, in a level 3 out of 5 risk on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/weather-geek-speak-severe-weather-categories-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe thunderstorm risk scale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">This level 3 risk zone, which includes cities such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/peoria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peoria<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/decatur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Decatur<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/champaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Champaign<\/a> in Illinois, faces the threat of strong tornadoes (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/how-are-tornadoes-rated-the-enhanced-fujita-scale-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EF-2 or higher<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Although cities like Chicago, Indianapolis and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/indiana\/fort-wayne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Wayne<\/a>, Indiana, are only in a level 2 out of 5 risk of severe weather, there is still a risk for tornadoes in those areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async
