Commuters in the Mid-Atlantic up to New York City will deal with heavy fog in the morning, isolated severe storms and winds are possible in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><strong>ATLANTA<\/strong> \u2013 Commuters woke up to a line of severe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/thunderstorms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a> tracking through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/southeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southeast<\/a> Monday morning as another round of severe storms threatens some 87 million people across the eastern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> with damaging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winds<\/a> and a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/tornadoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tornadoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">While the tornado threat is greatest from southern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/mississippi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mississippi<\/a> through the Carolinas, the threat of damaging winds extends northward to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/new-jersey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Jersey<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/new-york\/new-york-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York City<\/a> metro area and parts of central and upstate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">These storms are associated with the same system that pummeled the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/severe-storms-tornadoes-great-lakes-ohio-tennessee-mississippi-valleys-march\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">central part of the country Sunday, leaving at least two people dead<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/indiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indiana<\/a>. Tornadoes were spotted in several states, and the National Weather Service received dozens of wind and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hail<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Where is severe weather happening now?<\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">As the strong <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-a-cold-front\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cold front<\/a> driving the severe storms charges eastward on Monday, some 87 million people from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a> southwestward to the central Gulf Coast region face the threat of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> to kick off the new workweek.<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Digital_Radar.gif\"\/><figcaption>Three-hour radar loop. WARNING: HERE ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE WEATHER TERMS THAT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Digital_Active_Watches.png\"\/><figcaption>A look at Tornado Watches and Severe Thunderstorm Watches issued across the eastern U.S.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Timing for Monday&#8217;s severe storms<\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Strong to severe thunderstorms packing threats of damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes are expected Monday from portions of the Northeast southwestward to the central Gulf Coast region, threatening both the morning and evening <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/commuter-forecast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">commutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">NOAA&#8217;s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/weather-geek-speak-severe-weather-categories-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk<\/u><\/a> that stretches from southeastern New York state to southeastern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/louisiana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Louisiana<\/a>. However, a level 3 out of 5 severe weather risk covers much of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/mid-atlantic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>mid-Atlantic<\/u><\/a> and Southeast, from central <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/north-carolina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>North Carolina<\/u><\/a> to southern Mississippi.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Storms are already ongoing near the Gulf Coast and parts of the Southeast, with additional development expected farther north throughout the day, the FOX Forecast Center said.
