THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE EXPLAINED<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/WED%20Severe%20Outlook.png\"\/><figcaption>The severe weather outlook for April 2, 2025.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">This marks only the second time this year, and the first instance of two such high-risk alerts in a single year since 2021, that a Level 5 threat has been issued. The previous Level 5 alert was issued on March 15 when the National Weather Service confirmed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/pah\/Mar14-15_2025Severe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><u>13 tornadoes<\/u><\/a>, including six powerful EF-3s, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/severe-weather-outbreak-friday-saturday-midwest-southeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>which tragically resulted in seven deaths and 12 injuries<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Outside the high-risk zone, Wednesday&#8217;s overall threat of severe storms spans an area from North <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Texas<\/u><\/a> to the southern Great Lakes and also includes the potential for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>hail<\/u><\/a> larger than 2 inches in diameter and damaging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>wind<\/u><\/a> gusts in excess of 70 mph.<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Digital_Active_Watches.png\"\/><figcaption>The severe weather watches that are in effect.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">While the greatest tornado risk is expected from Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> is already ongoing in parts of the central <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">On Wednesday morning, a line of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/thunderstorms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a> exploded across central and eastern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/kansas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas<\/a>. A tornado was spotted near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/kansas\/salina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salina<\/a>, Kansas, as the storms rolled through the region.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Farther south, parts of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/texas\/dallas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dallas<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/texas\/fort-worth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Worth<\/a> Metroplex in North Texas face a Level 3 out of 5 severe weather threat as this line of storms expands and charges east through the morning.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/how-to-watch-fox-weather-on-tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>HOW TO WATCH FOX WEATHER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Digital_Radar.gif\"\/><figcaption>Three-hour radar loop. Warning boxes are color coded as: Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in yellow, Tornado Warnings in red, Tornado Warnings with confirmed tornado in purple, Flash Flood Warnings in green, and Flash Flood Emergencies in pink.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">By Wednesday afternoon and evening, the wider severe weather threat encompasses major cities such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/illinois\/chicago\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/indiana\/indianapolis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indianapolis<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/ohio\/columbus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Columbus<\/a>, Ohio, which are under a Level 3 out of 5 threat for severe storms.
