rel=\"noopener\">Mississippi<\/a> Valley, the threat finally shifts east Sunday into portions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/southeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southeast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Since last Wednesday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/7-facts-you-should-know-about-flash-floods\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flash flooding<\/a> have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/severe-weather-tornado-outbreak-flooding-southeast-deaths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blamed for at least 16 deaths across five states<\/a>, target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a> and heavy rain are finally shifting east on Sunday, threatening cities such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/georgia\/atlanta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlanta<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/alabama\/birmingham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/alabama\/mobile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mobile<\/a> in <a This will push a previously stalled front eastward as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/what-is-a-cold-front\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cold front<\/a> across the Southeast.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Ahead of the front, an axis of high moisture, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/atmosphere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">atmospheric<\/a> energy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/wind-shear\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind shear<\/a> \u2013 the change in wind speed and direction with height \u2013 will support thunderstorms with locally heavy rain from the central Gulf Coast through central Alabama and North Georgia.
