href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/freezing-temperatures-hamper-flood-tornado-recovery-april-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">some frigid mornings across central portions of the U.S.<\/a> that experienced days of intense storms and torrential rain, warmer temperatures are slowly going to return by the end of the week. However, so does the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/severe-weather\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severe weather<\/a> threat.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Nearly 30 million people across portions of the mid-South and Deep South and Tennessee Valley will be at risk of scattered severe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/thunderstorms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thunderstorms<\/a> on Thursday. NOAA\u2019s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed more than 9 million people in parts of seven states in a Level 2 out of 5 threat on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/weather-geek-speak-severe-weather-categories-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5-point severe thunderstorm risk scale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/THU%20Severe%20Outlook.png?v1\"\/><figcaption>A look at the severe storm threat in the South on Thursday.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Great Lakes, Northeast locked in a winter feel<\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">We&#8217;re almost three weeks into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/spring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spring<\/a>, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/winter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter<\/a> refuses to loosen its grip on the Great Lakes and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/northeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northeast<\/a>. Following the tease of warmth at the end of last week and into the start of the weekend, when many places saw temperatures in the 70s, this return of winterlike conditions feels like even more of a gut punch.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center said areas across much of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/ohio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ohio<\/a> Valley and East Coast will remain 10-15 degrees cooler than average for early April.<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/Northeast%20Snow%20QPF.png?v1\"\/><figcaption>Snow is still to come in the Northeast through Friday morning.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Wednesday morning&#8217;s temperatures plunged to the lowest values so far this week ahead of another chance of rain moving into the Northeast by Thursday. Temperatures will remain below average Thursday, making it a dreary day for most. Some locations within the interior Northeast, especially higher in elevation, could see more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/snow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Rain may hang around the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/new-england\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New England<\/a> coast through Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\">Record-breaking heat returns out West<\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The FOX Forecast Center is tracking a major temperature warmup \u2013 this time across the western <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S.<\/a> Here is what you can expect:<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Temperatures will increase from Thursday into Friday, and numerous record highs are possible as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/learn\/why-is-atmospheric-pressure-so-important-to-the-forecast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">high pressure<\/a> builds across the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/west\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div data-v-b8684aba=\"\">\n<div class=\"freeform-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/media.foxweather.com\/weather\/THU%20Record%20Highs%20List.png?v1\"\/><figcaption>A look at the record heat in the West on Thursday.<br \/><strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong><\/figcaption><hr\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">High temperatures are expected to climb as much as 25 degrees or more above average by Friday. This anomalous heat will extend over 1,200 miles from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/mexico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mexican<\/a> border out West all the way toward the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/canada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian<\/a> border.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Major cities such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/arizona\/phoenix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phoenix<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/nevada\/las-vegas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Las Vegas<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/arizona\/tucson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tucson<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/arizona\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arizona<\/a>, will be challenging record highs Thursday, Friday and Saturday while also eyeing their first 100-degree day of 2025.<\/p>\n<h2 data-v-4e81e892=\"\"><strong>Watch: Woman inside vehicle survives when falling tree crushes it<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/extreme-weather\/woman-vehicle-tree-fall-pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A woman narrowly escaped death when a tree fell on her vehicle Monday in Pennsylvania<\/a>. She was driving through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/pennsylvania\/kennett-square\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Kennett Square<\/u><\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/pennsylvania\/philadelphia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Philadelphia<\/u><\/a> suburb in Chester County, when a large tree toppled onto her car.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Video of the ordeal showed the woman&#8217;s vehicle coming to a stop in traffic when the dead tree snapped and fell \u2013 seemingly exploding as it hit the ground.
