High school football games canceled Friday due to weather: see list

Remnants of Hurricane Helene are set to bring strong winds and rain to the region, causing some area schools to change or reschedule their Friday night football games.

Friday night’s showdown between Cooper and Highlands, the two top ranked teams in northern Kentucky, has been cancelled due to weather. A rescheduled date has yet to be announced.

Below are additional games that have been canceled due to the impacts from Helene on Friday.

• The Clermont Northeastern Varsity Football Game against Blanchester is postponed and will be played Saturday at 10 a.m. at CNE High School. The school also canceled its homecoming parade due to weather.
• Undefeated Anderson’s visit to defending ECC champion Milford has been canceled Friday due to power outages. No reschedule date has been announced yet.
• Walton Verona vs. Bracken County has been postponed to Saturday due to weather. All Games and Practices are canceled at Walton Verona. Varsity Girls soccer will play 10:30 a.m. at the complex Saturday followed by varsity football at 3 p.m.
• Simon-Kenton vs. Paul Laurence Dunbar has been postponed due to weather. A make up date has not yet been set.
• The Carroll County vs. Owen County football game has been postponed until Saturday at 3 p.m. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime. The Homecoming dance has been delayed until 8 p.m. on Saturday.
• Gallatin County at Beachwood rescheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.
• Scott at Conner rescheduled for Saturday at 12 p.m.
• Cooper at Highlands rescheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.
• Dixie Heights at Boone County rescheduled for Saturday at 12 p.m.
• Loveland vs. Walnut Hills has been canceled
• Indian Hill vs. Madeira has been rescheduled until 1 p.m. on Saturday
• Connersville at North Decatur has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday
• Harrison at Campbell County will be played at 11 a.m. Saturday
• Bellevue at Gamble Montessori will be played Monday, time TBD
• Bethel-Tate at East Clinton will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday
• Monroe at Franklin will be played at 8 p.m. on Saturday

The Tri-State area has been upgraded to a HIGH WIND WARNING for Friday from noon to 10 p.m.

The rain from Helene is already here in Cincinnati.

Sustained winds Friday will be around 20 to 30 mph and gusts 40 to 60 mph.

The peak gusts in our area look to be around 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This could lead to some travel issues and power interruptions. Secure outdoor decor if you don’t want them blown around.

Rain will continue through around sunset Friday. After dark, we get into a little lull in the rain for the overnight. M most areas will pick up 1-2 inches of rain.

Saturday will be a steady light rain through the day. Plan on cloudy skies and temperatures that are basically stuck in the mid to upper 60s. Sunday we should see off and on showers, but more dry time in there. By the end of the weekend, all told, the impact from Helene will bring us 2 to 3 inches of rain for much of the area.
