Henderson County residents urged to stay off roads, curfew in effect
HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Residents in Henderson County are urged to stay off roads to aid emergency and power restoration efforts as the State of Emergency remains in effect.
Officials with Henderson County Emergency Management provided a new update as of 6 pm, Sept. 28, 2024.
A mandatory countywide curfew remains in effect daily from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am until conditions improve, which is an addendum to the State of Emergency that is already in effect.
To report emergencies only please call 911. All non-emergency calls should be directed to the Emergency Operations Call Center by dialing 828-771-6670.
Emergency personnel remain in rescue mode and will continue to provide assistance to residents in need. Officials say cell service has been affected by widespread power outages throughout the county.
Crews are hard at work to clear roadways and restore power as quickly as possible.
Chief Communications Officer Mike Morgan says water customers in the City of Hendersonville may experience low pressure and outages in the distribution system. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Once the water service is restored consumers should vigorously boil all water for one minute before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or preparing food.
