Earth Day 2010 NOAA Dives Coral Restoration Sites
Dr. Jane Lubchenco and Tom Moore joins Ken Nedimyer as they tour the Wellwood Restoration site at Molasses Reef in the Florida Keys. Staghorn and Elkhorn corals that are transplanted there are examined on Earth Day 2010. Margaret Miller examines a large growth of established natural Elkhorn coral at the site. The next dive visits Ken’s coral nursery to see the over 3000 corals growing there. Line nursery’s, cleaning stations and new coral transplants are viewed and new staghorn cuttings are mounted onto Earth Day 2010 mounting tables.
An amazing day, fantastic coral restoration efforts of the corals in the Florida Keys.
