Headliner band makes big announcement after pulling out of festival because of ‘murderer’ Kyle Rittenhouse

After pulling out of a music festival when they learned right-wing favorite son Kyle Rittenhouse had been invited to appear, Evergreen Terrace announced it is putting together a benefit show.

“Orlando, we will be seeing you soon,” the band told its fans on a Facebook post. “We are currently organizing a show with the bands that dropped off of the Shell Shock fest after being blindsided. All of Evergreen’s proceeds will go to an associated veterans organization. Updates soon.”

The band added: “We play shows, not rallies.”

The bands and headliner of an upcoming music festival in Orlando, Fla. pulled out of the lineup after learning Rittenhouse had been invited as a guest.

As the headliner of the “Shell Shock II” festival, metalcore band Evergreen Terrace, announced in a social media post Saturday that the band no longer would be attending the Oct. 17 festival due to the appearance of Rittenhouse. Loudwire reported that a Slipknot cover band will now be replacing them as the headliner.

Rittenhouse shot three men, killing two of them and wounding the third, during a protest against police brutality in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in 2020. Rittenhouse was acquitted after he argued that he fired in self-defense after the men attacked him. He has since used his case to make money as a right-wing hero.

“Evergreen Terrace has always supported and continues to support philanthropic events for veterans, PTSD awareness, child poverty, and many more, but we will not align with an event promoting murderers such as Kyle Rittenhouse capitalizing off of their pseudo celebrity,” Evergreen Terrace said in its statement.

“Unfortunately, we did not do our due diligence with this particular event. Even after they offered to pull Kyle from the event, we discovered several associated entities that we simply do not agree with,” the statement continued.

Loudwire reported that at least three other bands — Southpaw, Let Me Bleed and American Hollow — have also pulled out of the festival.

Comments on the band’s Facebook post were mostly positive, though some trolls used the same tired one-liner over and over: “Who are you?”

“I’m a grandmother. Not familiar with your band, but I applaud your decision. He may have been acquitted, but he should not be regarded as a celebrity, or someone to be admired. I’m going to listen to some of your music now.”

“Thank you for standing up for what’s right.”

“Keep up the good work. Fans will respect you. Forget about those idiots.”
