Rare Comet Visible Again Sunday Night
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A rare comet that was discovered in 2023 will be visible Sunday evening.
The A3Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comet made a pass just 44 million miles from earth yesterday, the closest it will be for approximately 80,000 years.
To view the comet, go outdoors around sunset and look just a few degrees south of west. The comet will become visible around 10 minutes after sunset, and will disappear under the horizon around 45 minutes after sunset.
The comet will be visible through much of October, though will become slightly smaller each night as it continues to move away from earth.
