Kamala Harris rally in Pittsburgh: Supporters line up


The equipment is set for Monday afternoon’s rally for Vice President Kamala Harris at Carrie Blast Furnaces in Rankin.According to the “Vote for Freedom Rally” website, Harris will be joined by special musical guests Katy Perry, Andra Day, DJ Arie Cole, and D-Nice.The event is set to take place between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Harris’ rally originally was to take place at Point State Park Monday at 3 p.m. before it was deemed ‘unsafe.’Harris is slated to arrive in Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. and speak at the Carrie Blast Furnaces event at 8:35 p.m.Following her rally in Pittsburgh, the vice president will head to Philadelphia for one final push for the battleground state of Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes.Mayor of Rankin Joelisa McDonald commented on Harris’ visit to the area in a Facebook post Sunday night, saying in part:”It’s not every day that our community gets to host leaders at this level, and I am proud to see our borough and the Mon Valley in the spotlight. Regardless of our political views, this is a wonderful opportunity for Rankin to shine on the national stage, showcasing our strength and resilience.” Her opponent, former President Donald Trump will also be in Pittsburgh on the eve of election day. Trump is set to speak at PPG Paints Arena around 6 p.m. His rally will be one of four on Monday, with other stops including Reading, Pennsylvania, Raleigh, North Carolina and Grand Rapids, Michigan.Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 will be covering both rallies.
