Broad Fire: Fast-moving brush fire in Malibu burns at least 1 home; PCH near Malibu Canyon Road closed in both directions

MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) — At least one seaside home is burning as a fast-burning brush fire burns along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

The so-called Broad Fire erupted Wednesday morning near PCH and Malibu Canyon Road and has burned at least 10 acres so far.

PCH has been closed in both directions in the area and Malibu city officials are warning residents to get ready for potential evacuations.

Meanwhile, a 250-acre fire is burning near Ventura County where several structures are being threatened.

Stronger and “particularly dangerous” Santa Ana conditions were expected to return Wednesday morning, leading to more warnings of critical fire threat.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread damaging wind gusts of 60 to 80 miles per hour are likely in the mountains and foothills of Los Angeles and Ventura counties (including the Santa Monicas and Santa
Susanas), with isolated gusts of 80 to 100 miles per hour possible in favored areas of the San Gabriels.

Similar winds are expected once again in the mountains Thursday night.
