Richard Allen found guilty in Delphi murders trial

Richard Allen is on trial for allegedly murdering Abby Williams and Libby German in 2017.

DELPHI, Ind. — UPDATE: Richard Allen has been found guilty on all four counts for the murders of Abby Williams and Libby German.

Allen was guilty of felony murder of both girls and guilty of knowingly and intentionally killing both girls.  It took the jury less than 2 minutes to enter the courtroom and read the verdict.

Allen is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 20, 2024.

Allen’s wife, Kathy Allen told 13 News “this isn’t over at all” as she left the courtroom.

13News has learned the jury in the Delphi murders trial has reached a verdict.

The announcement of the jury reaching a verdict was confirmed at 1:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.

13 Investigates senior reporter Bob Segall is in the courtroom to listen to the verdict. Reminder, no cameras or cellphones are allowed in the courtroom, so we will not know the verdict until a reporter comes out of the Carroll County Courthouse.

Abby Williams and Libby German were killed almost eight years ago. In October 2022, Richard Allen was charged with their murders.

For almost three weeks, Allen has been on trial for those murders. The prosecution has argued that Allen was a killer, hiding in plain sight, who admitted to the killings. The defense says Allen was charged on flimsy evidence, and only confessed because he had a psychotic break.
