‘Major event’ impacting cell towers knocks out internet service across Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) — The internet is down for much of the state after a “major event” knocked out service, T-Mobile said.

The event impacted four cell towers in St. George. Additionally, T-Mobile said a facility in Salt Lake experienced a “brief mechanical issue.”

“A facility in the Salt Lake area had a brief mechanical issue that impacted connectivity for some customers in that market, but this is now resolved and service is restored,” the statement read. “We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Another representative said service is “slowly coming back.”

The outage affected both T-Mobile and CenturyLink customers.
