Jake Paul drops $200K on ear coverings before Mike Tyson bout

LAS COLINAS, Texas — Jake Paul certainly knows how to troll.

It’s one of the biggest reasons he’s gotten himself to this stage in the first place.

Paul wore an ear cover bedazzled in diamonds on Wednesday during the final news conference for his highly anticipated bout against Mike Tyson on Friday night at AT&T Stadium.

It was a clear shot at Tyson infamously biting a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear off during their rematch bout in 1997.

“I’m not getting my s- -t bitten off Friday night,” Paul said. “I got my diamond-spiked ear covers.”

Tyson was disqualified from that bout and suspended for 15 months after the incident.

He and Holyfield have since become friends, and Tyson has poked fun at and even capitalized off his infamy by selling marijuana-infused gummies in the shape of Holyfield’s chewed up ear for his Tyson 2.0 company.

The ear cover was made by Vobara, a jewelry designer in Miami. It cost $100,000, according to TMZ

Tyson didn’t “bite” on the trolling, though.

He barely even spoke and didn’t comment or even look over and acknowledge Paul’s bling.

Instead, Tyson repeatedly stressed throughout the news conference that he’s already said all he’s needed to, that he has little left to share and that the crowds at all their prefight events speak for themselves.

No matter how aggressively Paul insulted or bad-mouthed him, Tyson just kept staring straight ahead and spoke as little as possible.

“There’s a lot of s–t-talk online saying you’re gonna kill me and nothing in person,” Paul said. “I don’t know, it’s pretty boring, pretty f–king boring. It’s not working, whatever these games are. It’s not gonna change the result of what happens Friday night.”

Paul’s antics weren’t kept to just Tyson either.

When 9 of the other 12 fighters on the card predicted Tyson would win, Paul got up and challenged each one of them to put their money where their mouths were and bet on the fight with him.

“When I see dumb people saying dumb predictions, I just feel bad for them,” Paul said.

When Mario Barrios refused the bet, Paul called him “bitch-made.”

When Paul got to Bruce Carrington, who, like Tyson, grew up in Brownsville, Brooklyn, he said, “the time I spend taking a s–t is how much you make in your whole life buddy. Shut the f–k up, how much do you want to lose?”

But none of Paul’s jewelry, trash talk or gimmicks will matter once they step inside the ring Friday.

He certainly sounds confident, but everybody’s got a plan until they get punched in the mouth.
