Tournament announced to decide first ever WWE women’s United States champion

When WWE unveiled a new United States championship for its women’s division, they failed to mention how a first ever champion would be determined. It is a mystery no longer.

That’s because SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced a tournament would begin on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown that will see the winner make history:

Bayley vs. Candice LeRae vs. B-Fab is the first match-up we’ll see on this week’s show in Milwaukee.

Later, Triple H took to social media to reveal the entire bracket, which also makes clear the Finals will take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event on Dec. 14 in Long Island, New York:

Wha’ts notable here is that the tournament is full of wrestlers exclusive to the blue brand, which would seem to indicate Monday Night Raw is likely going to get a women’s Intercontinental championship sooner rather than later.

Either way, it’s on!
