More than 3.2 million Ohioans expected to travel for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving travel is set to reach record-breaking levels this year, with millions of Americans preparing to hit the roads and skies.

AAA anticipates more than 3.2 million Ohioans will travel for the holiday; a 2.1% increase from last year.

In the Columbus area, nearly 47,000 travelers are anticipated to fly, while over 500,000 are expected to travel by car.

Across the state, nearly 3 million Ohioans are expected to drive, more than 275,000 are expected to fly, and another 94,000 plan use other means of transportation, such as buses, cruises, or train travel.

AAA said it is expected to be the highest Thanksgiving travel volume since they began tracking in 2000.

TSA officials are scheduled to be at John Glenn International Airport on Monday to outline their strategy for managing the holiday rush.

Experts advised that the worst times to travel by car are the afternoons on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, while Thanksgiving Day itself is considered the best time to travel, as interstates and highways are typically clear.
