Trump names Pam Bondi as new AG pick after Matt Gaetz withdraws from consideration
After days of doubts about his chances of being confirmed, former Rep. Matt Gaetz withdrew from consideration as attorney general in the Trump administration. Gaetz, who has denied allegations he had sex with a 17-year-old girl, said he did not want to be a distraction to the incoming administration. NBC News’ Gabe Gutierrez reports.
As Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump’s pick for defense secretary, tried to build support among senators, he faced a newly released police report about an alleged sexual assault. Hegseth said the encounter was consensual, and no charges were filed in the case. NBC News’ Ryan Nobles reports
