Teacher dies of rabies after bat bite
An art teacher at Bryant Middle School in southern Merced County, died last week of rabies.It’s presumed Leah Seneng got rabies from a bat that had entered her classroom.Seneng told a friend that she noticed the bat in her classroom around mid-October.According to the California Department of Public Health, one of the most common sources of rabies in humans is from bats.The CDPH is warning the public not to handle bats, as bites often go unnoticed.They also warn you to wash the affected areas if you touch a bat and to seek emergency care if bitten.
