Netflix will soon be showing the British South Asian drama Kaur.

It’s the first film in history to be based on a story about a British Sikh woman who decides to wear a turban, against her father’s wishes.

“We really wanted a voice for the incredible women in our community,” said Parvinder Shergill, co-writer, producer and actor in Kaur, “to give them the honour and respect they deserve on a mainstream platform.”
