Pennsylvania restaurant temporarily shuts down due to norovirus outbreak

A recent outbreak of sick customers at a Pennsylvania restaurant is being blamed not on the food but on cases of norovirus. Faccia Luna is a popular eatery in the State College area. The state health department had to close the restaurant temporarily for three days to perform a deep clean. The restaurant reopened Thursday with officials clarifying the sicknesses were caused by norovirus, not food poisoning. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says norovirus is the leading cause of vomiting, diarrhea and foodborne illnesses in the country. While symptoms usually resolve within one to three days, it’s very contagious. The state health department is still looking into what caused the outbreak.
