Navy defeats Army 31-13 in the 125th matchup between the rivals

Navy celebrates touchdown in win over Army

Navy handed No. 22 Army just its second loss of the season in dominant fashion, 31-13. This was the largest margin of victory in the classic rivalry since 2019, when Navy prevailed 31-7, and it is the first time the teams have combined for 40-plus points since 2013.

Midshipmen quarterback Blake Horvath had a career day, throwing for 107 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 204 yards and two more scores. Horvath accounted for 311 of Navy’s 384 total yards.

On the other side, Army quarterback Bryson Daily could not get in rhythm against a swarming Midshipmen defense. Daily finished with 65 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions through the air, and he only rushed for 52 yards on 19 attempts — his lowest total rushing yards of the season. This was just the second game this season Daily failed to eclipse 100 rushing yards and the first since Army’s season-opener against Lehigh.

The Midshipmen had Army’s defense on its heels all night, highlighted by a fake punt in the fourth quarter.

Navy (9-3) will carry this momentum to its bowl matchup with Oklahoma on Dec. 27, while Army (11-2) will try to finish the season on a high note in its new bowl game opponent Louisiana Tech.
