Ohio police find 3 women dead inside home, detectives say ‘very unusual’ case
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKRC/WSYX/CNN Newsource) – Columbus police were investigating a complex homicide case involving three adult female victims found dead in a South Columbus home Saturday afternoon.
The incident has been described as “very unusual” by Sgt. James Fuqua of the Columbus Police Department. The call to 911 was reported as a shooting just before 4 p.m., but Fuqua could not confirm how the three women died.
“It’s very unusual to have so many victims in one incident,” said Fuqua. “One homicide is one too many. But when you have three, that’s particularly alarming and troubling to us.”
A friend of the victims discovered them inside a home on South Ohio Avenue near Karns Park. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Fuqua noted the investigation was still in its early stages and that the type of homicide or what led up to it, was still unclear.
“We did have witnesses there. And we’re working through not only those witnesses, but canvassing the area for any video evidence,” said Fuqua. “You see the amount of detectives we have back here that’s going to work tirelessly to determine who done this heinous crime and bring justice to the family of these victims.”
Fuqua emphasized the investigation would take longer than usual to ensure no evidence is overlooked. He also urged community members to assist detectives by providing any information they might have.
“Particularly this time of year during the holidays, it’s going to be very difficult for all of these victims’ family to come to grips that, unfortunately, these family members will no longer be in their lives,” he said.
