Josh O’Connor’s ‘Knives Out 3’ Trailer Was Nicer Than His Apartment
Josh O’Connor got to experience the “suite” life while filming Knives Out 3.
During a wide-ranging conversation with his Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery costar Daniel Craig for Variety, the two actors recalled their time filming the third installment of the Netflix series this past summer — and O’Connor admitted he may have gotten a bit spoiled on the set.
“The trailers! That’s the best trailer I’ve ever had in my life. It’s better than my flat in London,” the Challengers star, 34, told Craig, 56. “And I spent a lot of time knocking on your door.”
The James Bond star reprises his role as famed private investigator Benoit Blanc in Wake Me Up Dead Man, which Netflix previously teased as Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet.”
Each installment has starred an assortment of A-listers from Ana de Armas and Chris Evans in 2019’s Knives Out to Kate Hudson and Janelle Monáe in 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Craig was the only returning star in each movie.
In addition to Craig and franchise newbie O’Connor, Wake Up Dead Man will also star Fleabag actor Andrew Scott and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny, along with Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis and Josh Brolin.
Close, 77, told PEOPLE in August that Knives Out 3 had a “cast from heaven.”
“This coming two weeks, we have scenes where all of us are in the same room, and I just can’t wait to see what he does and what he does and what she does. It’s so much fun,” she said.
Later in their Variety conversation, the pair also recalled both working with director Luca Guadagnino for recent films — O’Connor with Challengers and Craig with Queer.
O’Connor told Craig that after seeing Queer, he thought it was “a total masterpiece,” adding that Craig’s character (Lee) “feels deeply insecure, and yet the way he walks around is completely confident.”
For Craig, the “artifice of masculinity” is what made “so much sense to me.”
“You see a love between the two guys that trumps everything around it,” Craig said of Challengers’ storyline.
O’Connor confessed that sometimes the sex scenes aren’t as steamy as they appear to be: “Me and Mike [Faist] got the giggles because we’re both kissing Zendaya, and gradually we end up kissing each other. She’s just backed out and she’s watching. We had this moment of kissing for a while, and then opening our eyes and seeing that it’s just us — that did make us giggle.”

O’Connor also recalled how close he and Craig became while filming for Knives Out 3.
“I’ve never experienced anything like it on a film set. We were all in each other’s pockets for three months. Particularly you and me. Most of the time you and me,” he said.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, directed by Rian Johnson, arrives on Netflix in 2025.
